This article hits home! Having four children, the youngest 18 I can totally relate to the need for Values. The need to ‘preach’ the need for values. This 21 year old (or about to be) explains it well-
It’s hard sometimes to understand when you are in your 50’s and your children are so much younger. Do they understand? How can we instill what we KNOW is important (and they disagree?). Integrity. Kindness. Work Hard. Think positive. Spiritual Strength (Believing). These are values I believe make good people. Of course this is just a start.
While I am not perfect, well no one is. These values are certainly on my list of necessities in order to live a happy life. I find myself with so many ‘daily to-do’s’ that I sometimes get overwhelmed. It’s important to read from the bible (or something similar. It’s important to plan. It’s important to show kindness. It’s important to work hard. It’s important to focus on family. It’s important to keep my life organized. All in a day’s work…..whew! sometimes it gets really hard.
Times have certainly changed but if we all work together and instill values in our young ones, we can make a difference. It has to. What better time than the first of the year. Start off making a difference. Instilling values. Living by example.
