This was our second time attending Christmas for Charities held by the Rotary Club of Charles Town. It was sold out and we after being on the ‘stand by’ list, we luckily did end up getting a table, #2 actually which seated 8.
After getting our ‘beads’, bingo cards, registering as a bidder, finding our table and grabbing a cocktail we headed to check out the silent auction items. Lots of stuff this year.
The photo booth is always a hit – pick out your accessories and get ready! 3 photos in just a few seconds means you have to always be ready….someone wasn’t, hehe.
Dinner is always great – and of course I can’t forget about the desserts.
Bingo is actually a speed bingo! Whew…you really have to pay attention and make sure those pieces of corn stay in place…Robin and I did actually win games.
A bottle of Maggie Malick’s wine and a hand made padded pouch with rescued fabric made by Karin Birch. Nice and perfect size for some of my pens or maybe even some make up.
The silent auction closes out before the live auction begins. (well there was one live auction before we ate….a table paid $600 to go first and Randy secretly bid it up with Ronnie’s number, ha!) This guy keeps us in stitches All. The. Time.
Lots of pretty cool stuff including vacations for groups, dinners for couples and even a football game party for 60. And to think all the money goes to the local charities for children during the holiday season. The goal this year was $50,000!
We had the winning bid for two Redskin autographed photos, a Vera Bradley iPad case and a glass wine glass/bottle table.
We wrapped up the night in the H-Lounge which was a great ending to an awesome event. It does put you in the spirit which means ordering some Christmas presents today and checking things off my list!
If you are interested in attending next year or just simply keeping up with the activities of the Rotary of Charles Town, their FB page gives lots of info….Check it out HERE Oh, one more thing….shout out to the Washington High School media team for putting together the program this year. It was perfect!
