Reading books (or really any literature) is one of my favorite things to do. Time is my biggest struggle but I signed up for the Goodreads 12 Books In A Year Challenge! With national reading day this month – January 23rd, what a great time to share (and encourage =)
To wrap up the holiday season, I read Debbie Macomber‘s Twelve Days of Christmas. What a great book! Fitting because it was about holiday cheer, blowing and most importantly the significance of simple kindness. I would consider this an easy and somewhat quick read. It kept my attention but that was no surprise given I have read MANY of Debbie’s books and loved them all.
Coloring is calming for me and I recently picked up this book –
It is a very special book – the coloring pages each reference one of her books with a quote to the left. It i fun figuring out if I have read each and remembering the sentence she uses from the book. Definitely a GREAT author if you are looking for one and not family with Debbie Macomber. She is also on Facebook and provides lots of good information, do follow =)
Reading is important. I learn. I experience. I get lost. Here’s confirmation that it’s good for you! 8 Benefits of Reading – Unfortunately I’m the only one in my family that loves to read. I have both digital and hard copy books that I read. Several years ago now, when the tablets and ids first came out I was determined to no longer buy hard copies. That lasted for a while but honestly, there’s just something about holding the book and standing in a book store or book aisle picking them up, skimming through and wanting to take it home. Then after reading either sharing or placing on that book shelf. Speaking of that, I need to do better about not keeping them. I NEVER read them twice and don’t really have anyone to hand them down to. In my ‘simplify’ goal, this is definitely an area I can improve, ha!
I also like to vary in the types of books I read. It keeps things interesting. Beach/Summer, Romance, Finance, Lifestyle, Faith, Self Improvement. A good mix tends to keep me focused on many things. Contrary to what I just said, I did download my newest book today….It’s by Joanne DeMaio, Beach Blues. I couldn’t help myself so peeked at the first few pages while waiting for my lunch to heat up. I’m already excited to dig in! She has lots of options, too…Wishing on Snowflakes might have to be my next one.
Are you up for a challenge? Pick a great one and reading sounds like it is very beneficial. Stay tuned!
