Happy Monday! It is SO hard to believe it is December already. The holidays are among us and soon it will be 2018. Wow! Who remembers 1999 (not the Prince song =) when no one was sure what was going to happen when the clocks rolled to 2000?!?! Get your money out of the bank. Stock your pantry. Have plenty of wood and coolers. Buy all the jugs of water you can. This was just in case we had no power. The banks couldn’t access their safe. The local stores couldn’t do business because their registers wouldn’t work. Well…..I was certainly glad when everything WAS just fine. And here we are. Seventeen years later. Who….would have thunk it?!
I happen to be traveling this week. Minneapolis first and then Des Moines. This should be my last trip until the new year. I am actually writing this from the plane, waiting for take off. But as I was packing this morning, I realized how convenient it is these days. One small bag with ALL my make-up. That sure beats the way I used to pack. But, some of the credit goes to my eye shadow. Y’all know it IS make-up Monday and it’s time to reveal another one of my favorites!
Eye shadow! That’s right. I am pretty plain jane when it comes to eye shadow. My ‘go to’ is brown. Shades of brown. And I typically wear at least three different on a daily basis. Now mind you, those top three or four usually came in something that looked like this…
And, I would only use three or four. The others would go untouched and end up with powder from my favs on top. What. A. Waste. And honestly, this would run about $40-$45 every few months.
Here’s how I roll now – these are my top four (yes, there are five – read below for info on the 5th =):
Pink Posey – This one goes in the corner of each eye. Three dots. I brush very lightly from the corner to about the center. It’s honestly like just blotting.
Candlelight is next – This one goes just under my brown. Two dots. I blot lightly again, down to about the center of my eye lid.
Next up is Mocha Java – this one can actually be worn alone. (I typically wear just this on lazy weekends). Three dots. And i blend in to meet the middle (Pink Posey) and Candlelight.
The last one is one dot. Garnet. I then take a fine line brush and just highlight the crease of my eye lid. It’s really just an accent.
And there you have it. This eyeshadow is AWESOME because….
- it is convenient
- you use what you buy – no waste
- it literally lasts all day without creasing
- one tube lasts a long time so I feel like I get my money’s worth
- it packs so nicely (no power to crack and break)
- it comes right to my house!
One trick is the brushes. I have a mixture of old ones and obviously use one per color. I have this on my Christmas list
We shall see if I get an upgrade but for now mine work. They just aren’t pretty and all the same.
Oh and one more thing. I actually do have Onyx which I use as a liner. A tiny thin brush does the trick.
So there you have it. My eyes all done up. (no judging….remember, I am OLD))
I can hook you up too. Remember….locals, Ceejae is your girl. And my friends in the Minneapolis area, Karen is there for you. And for those of you in between, mail orders work just fine. These are great Christmas ideas too! A small package with lots of potential =)
Cheers to another Monday…..peace out, Girl Scout!
